Rhodonite is manganese silicate, and the pink comes from the manganese itself. The black veins are manganese oxides that formed in cracks after the stone had already solidified, which is why no two beads carry the same pattern. At 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale it is meaningfully harder than rhodochrosite, though the two are constantly confused because both are pink and both come from manganese ore bodies.

What you receive

  • Stone: Natural rhodonite
  • Bracelet type: Single loop, elastic, no clasp
  • Fit: Approx. 15-18 cm (5.9-7.1 in) wrist
  • Hardness: 5.5-6.5

About rhodonite

Rhodonite is manganese silicate, and the pink colour comes from the manganese itself. The black veins running through it are manganese oxides that formed in cracks after the stone had already solidified, which is why no two beads carry the same pattern. At 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale it is harder than rhodochrosite, though the two are often confused because both are pink and both come from manganese ore bodies.

Fit and sizing

It is a single loop, elastic bracelet on elastic with no clasp, and fits approx. 15-18 cm (5.9-7.1 in) wrist. Because the core is elastic it rolls on over the hand, so there is nothing to fasten one-handed. If you need a specific length, message us before ordering and we will tell you what is in stock.

Care

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry it at once. Rhodonite tolerates water better than rhodochrosite but is still softer than quartz, so store it away from harder stones and skip ultrasonic cleaning.

Shipping and returns

Orders are processed in 1-3 business days from our Shenzhen studio. Standard delivery to the US takes 10-20 business days and costs $8; shipping is free on orders over $70. Express delivery is $15. A tracking number is emailed once the parcel is handed to the carrier. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in their original packaging.

Common questions

How is this different from rhodochrosite?

Rhodonite is manganese silicate at 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale; rhodochrosite is manganese carbonate at 3.5-4. Rhodonite is harder, and it almost always carries black veins, which rhodochrosite does not.

Are the black lines cracks?

No. They are manganese oxide that filled fractures in the original stone and then solidified. They are inside the bead, not on the surface, and they are the reason each bead is different.

Is the colour treated?

No. Pink groundmass with black veins is the natural appearance of rhodonite and is not dyed.

About this piece

What exactly is this piece made from?

Natural gemstone. Every piece is inspected by hand before it ships. Treatments that are standard in the trade — heat-treated amethyst sold as citrine is the classic example — are explained in our material & treatment guide.

What should I know before ordering?

Each piece is assembled from natural stone, so colour, pattern and exact dimensions vary slightly from the photographs. The specification table above lists what is measured for this piece.

Can I wear it every day, or in water?

The stone itself is not harmed by a splash, but removing it before showering, swimming, sauna or the gym is the single easiest way to make it last. Chlorine and salt water attack elastic over time, and repeated flexing is what eventually wears any cord out.

How should I care for it?

Roll it on rather than stretching it over your hand, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and keep it away from perfume and chlorine. Store it flat in the pouch provided, out of direct sun. See our crystal care guide.

Crystal meanings described on this page come from tradition, not from medicine. Nothing here is medical advice.
