Rhodochrosite is manganese carbonate, and the banded pink material used in jewellery comes mainly from Argentina, where it formed in old silver mines. Each band is a layer laid down at a different moment, which is why the pattern cannot be imitated by dye. At 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale it is one of the softest stones we sell, and the price reflects the grade of rough rather than the size of the beads.

What you receive

  • Stone: Natural rhodochrosite
  • Origin: Argentina
  • Bracelet type: Single loop, elastic, no clasp
  • Hardness: 3.5-4 (soft)

About rhodochrosite

Rhodochrosite is manganese carbonate. The banded pink and cream material used in jewellery comes mainly from Argentina, where it formed in old silver mines, and the pattern is a growth record — each band is a layer laid down at a different moment. It measures only 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, making it one of the softer stones sold as beads, and the colour is natural rather than dyed.

Fit and sizing

It is a single loop, elastic bracelet on elastic with no clasp, and fits approx. 15-18 cm (5.9-7.1 in) wrist. Because the core is elastic it rolls on over the hand, so there is nothing to fasten one-handed. If you need a specific length, message us before ordering and we will tell you what is in stock.

Care

Rhodochrosite is soft and acid-sensitive. Do not soak it, do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners, and keep it away from perfume, vinegar-based cleaners and citrus. Wipe with a soft dry cloth and store it in a pouch rather than loose in a box.

Shipping and returns

Orders are processed in 1-3 business days from our Shenzhen studio. Standard delivery to the US takes 10-20 business days and costs $8; shipping is free on orders over $70. Express delivery is $15. A tracking number is emailed once the parcel is handed to the carrier. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in their original packaging.

Common questions

Is the pink dyed?

No. Rhodochrosite is never dyed in the trade: the banding is a growth pattern inside the stone and dye cannot reproduce it. If you see even, flat pink with no banding under a lens, it is a different material.

Why is this bracelet more expensive than others?

The grade of rough. Banded rhodochrosite with strong contrast and no fractures is scarce, and the price of the raw stone is set by that, not by bead size.

How careful do I need to be?

Fairly. Rhodochrosite is 3.5-4 on the Mohs scale and sensitive to acid, so no soaking, no perfume, no ultrasonic or steam cleaning. Wipe with a soft dry cloth and store it in a pouch.

About this piece

What exactly is this piece made from?

Natural gemstone. Every piece is inspected by hand before it ships. Treatments that are standard in the trade — heat-treated amethyst sold as citrine is the classic example — are explained in our material & treatment guide.

What should I know before ordering?

Each piece is assembled from natural stone, so colour, pattern and exact dimensions vary slightly from the photographs. The specification table above lists what is measured for this piece.

Can I wear it every day, or in water?

The stone itself is not harmed by a splash, but removing it before showering, swimming, sauna or the gym is the single easiest way to make it last. Chlorine and salt water attack elastic over time, and repeated flexing is what eventually wears any cord out.

How should I care for it?

Roll it on rather than stretching it over your hand, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and keep it away from perfume and chlorine. Store it flat in the pouch provided, out of direct sun. See our crystal care guide.

Crystal meanings described on this page come from tradition, not from medicine. Nothing here is medical advice.
