Sourcing & Ethics

Our citrine is naturally mined in Brazil rather than heat-treated amethyst, which is the common industry practice. Our suppliers confirm each batch is natural citrine, and colour and patterning vary from stone to stone. Sourced through established suppliers.

Note: As a natural stone, color and exact patterning vary. No two citrine stones are exactly alike.

Warm in the hand

Bright yellow, not the fake neon kind. Feels warm in the hand. Came quicker than I thought, under a week to the US.

About this Citrine tumbled stone

What exactly is this tumbled stone made from?

Natural Citrine. Quartz (SiO2) (Mohs hardness 7). Every piece is inspected by hand before it ships. Treatments that are standard in the trade — heat-treated amethyst sold as citrine is the classic example — are explained in our material & treatment guide.

How big is the stone?

Weight: approx. 10–20g per stone. Finish: Tumbled (smooth, polished surface). Tumbled stones are polished in batches, so each one differs slightly in size and depth of colour.

Where do the stones come from?

Brazil, India, Madagascar and Inner Mongolia — varies by stone. Stone is bought in batches, so the exact locality can differ from one piece to the next; where a single origin is given in the specification table above, that is the origin for this batch.

Can it go in water or direct sunlight?

Water is fine for most stones, but skip salt water and ultrasonic cleaners. Prolonged direct sun can fade some colours — amethyst, rose quartz and fluorite are the ones to watch — so do not leave it on a sunlit windowsill for weeks at a time.

How should I care for it?

Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth. Avoid household cleaners, and do not soak a specimen with soft inclusions. Store it where it will not knock against harder stones. See our crystal care guide.
