What Is a Tigers Eye Bracelet?

A tiger's eye bracelet strings together golden-brown beads famous for their moving band of light — a phenomenon called chatoyancy. Hold the bead still and the silky streak glides as you tilt it, like a cat's eye catching lamplight. Vincryst uses 8mm natural tiger's eye on a comfortable elastic cord. It is a member of the quartz family that has been naturally replaced with fibrous crocidolite, which creates the signature shimmer.

Key Facts You Can Verify

  • Family: silicified crocidolite — a chatoyant quartz variety.
  • Hardness: 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale, durable for daily wear.
  • Color: golden to reddish-brown with a perpendicular light band.
  • Origin: classic sources include South Africa; beads are cut and polished in Guangdong.

Why People Wear Tigers Eye

Traditionally carried as a stone of courage, focus, and steady confidence, tiger's eye is a favorite for work days and presentations. The warm gold tone also reads as cheerful and grounding rather than flashy.

Tigers Eye vs. Citrine vs. Gold Rutilated Quartz

  • Tiger's eye: chatoyant band, opaque, earthy gold-brown.
  • Citrine: transparent yellow quartz, no moving band.
  • Gold rutilated quartz: clear quartz with golden needle inclusions.

Want the "moving light" effect? Tiger's eye is the only one of the three with it.

How to Style It

The golden brown flatters denim and earth tones. Wear solo for a clean look or stack with black obsidian for a grounding-yet-warm combo. Unisex and easy.

Care & Cleaning

  • Dust with a soft cloth; lukewarm water and mild soap if needed, then dry fully.
  • Avoid long sun exposure, which can soften the golden tone over years.
  • Restring annually if worn daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the chatoyancy real?

Yes — the moving light band is a natural optical effect of the fibrous structure, not a coating. Tilting the bead shifts the streak.

Is it treated or dyed?

Our standard golden tiger's eye is natural and untreated. (Note: some "blue" or "red" tiger's eye on the market is heat-treated; we stock the classic golden form.)

Will it fit a larger wrist?

The 18cm elastic fits most adults. If your wrist is over 20cm, tell us and we can size up before shipping.

Good for stacking?

Very — its warm tone bridges cool crystals (amethyst, clear quartz) and dark ones (obsidian) nicely.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cleanse and charge this crystal bracelet?

Place your bracelet under moonlight overnight (preferably a full moon), smudge with palo santo or sage, or rest it on a selenite charging plate for 4-6 hours. Avoid salt, which can scratch delicate stones and 925 silver findings. We cleanse every piece under the full moon before shipping, so yours arrives ready to wear.

Is this genuine natural crystal?

Yes. Every stone in our bracelets is 100% natural, ethically sourced from Brazil, India, Madagascar, and Inner Mongolia. We never use dyed, heat-treated-to-deceive, or synthetic stones. The unique inclusions, color variations, and natural imperfections you see are proof of authenticity.

What does 925 sterling silver mean for my bracelet?

925 sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with 7.5% other metals (usually copper) for durability. It is hypoallergenic, tarnish-resistant with proper care, and far more durable than silver-plated alternatives. All Vincryst bracelets use genuine 925 sterling silver findings.

What size bracelet should I order?

Most of our bracelets are elastic-strung and designed to fit wrist sizes 16-19cm (6.3-7.5 inches) comfortably. Bead diameters range from 8mm to 10mm. If you prefer a looser or tighter fit, please contact us. Winwen personally adjusts sizing on request.

How should I care for my crystal bracelet?

Remove before showering, swimming, or exercising. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Store flat in the included pouch, away from direct sunlight which can fade certain crystals like amethyst and rose quartz. With proper care, your bracelet will last for years.
