Lapis Lazuli Double-Wrap Bracelet — Deep Blue Beads
Free shipping over $70 · 30-day returns · Inspected by hand
Lapis lazuli is a rock rather than a single mineral: lazurite supplies the blue, calcite shows as white clouds, and pyrite as small gold flecks. At 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale it is soft for a bracelet stone, so this strand is strung long enough to wrap twice and sit without being pulled tight. The deepest, most uniform blue continues to come from Afghan material.

About lapis lazuli
Lapis lazuli is a rock rather than a single mineral: lazurite gives the blue, calcite shows as white clouds, and pyrite as small metallic gold flecks. It measures 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale, which is soft for a bracelet stone, and the deep uniform blue that commands the highest prices comes from Afghanistan. Most lapis is untreated, though some material is waxed or lightly impregnated to seal surface porosity.
Fit and sizing
It is a double wrap, elastic strung on elastic with no clasp, and it wraps twice around a 15-18 cm (5.9-7.1 in) wrist. Because the core is elastic you wind it on rather than fasten it, so there is nothing to do up one-handed. If you need a different length, message us before ordering and we will tell you what is in stock.
Care
Lapis is porous and soft. Do not soak it, do not swim or shower in it, and keep it away from perfume, hairspray and anything acidic, all of which dull the surface. Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid ultrasonic cleaning.

Common questions
Are the white and gold marks defects?
No. White clouds are calcite and the gold flecks are pyrite, both part of the rock. Uniform deep blue with no calcite is the most expensive grade; a mix of white and gold is normal and is what most lapis looks like.
Can I get it wet?
Better not. Lapis is porous and soft, and water, soap, perfume and anything acidic will dull the surface over time. Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry it immediately.
How does a double wrap fit?
The strand is long enough to circle an average wrist twice, roughly 15-18 cm (5.9-7.1 in). It is elastic with no clasp, so you wind it on rather than fasten it.

About this piece
What exactly is this piece made from?
Natural gemstone. Every piece is inspected by hand before it ships. Treatments that are standard in the trade — heat-treated amethyst sold as citrine is the classic example — are explained in our material & treatment guide.
What should I know before ordering?
Each piece is assembled from natural stone, so colour, pattern and exact dimensions vary slightly from the photographs. The specification table above lists what is measured for this piece.
Can I wear it every day, or in water?
The stone itself is not harmed by a splash, but removing it before showering, swimming, sauna or the gym is the single easiest way to make it last. Chlorine and salt water attack elastic over time, and repeated flexing is what eventually wears any cord out.
How should I care for it?
Roll it on rather than stretching it over your hand, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and keep it away from perfume and chlorine. Store it flat in the pouch provided, out of direct sun. See our crystal care guide.
