Natural Lapis Lazuli. Lazurite-bearing rock (Mohs hardness 5-6). Every piece is inspected by hand before it ships. Treatments that are standard in the trade — heat-treated amethyst sold as citrine is the classic example — are explained in our material & treatment guide.

Brazil, India, Madagascar and Inner Mongolia — varies by stone. Stone is bought in batches, so the exact locality can differ from one piece to the next; where a single origin is given in the specification table above, that is the origin for this batch.
The stone itself is not harmed by a splash, but removing it before showering, swimming, sauna or the gym is the single easiest way to make it last. Chlorine and salt water attack elastic over time, and repeated flexing is what eventually wears any cord out.
Roll it on rather than stretching it over your hand, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and keep it away from perfume and chlorine. Store it flat in the pouch provided, out of direct sun. See our crystal care guide.
