About black obsidian
Obsidian is volcanic glass, not a crystal. It forms when lava cools so quickly that no crystals have time to grow, so the material has no grain and no cleavage, and a broken edge is a smooth curved surface. That is why obsidian takes a very high polish. Hardness is 5 to 5.5, softer than quartz, so it scratches more easily than a crystal bead of the same size but resists chipping better because it has no planes of weakness.
Fit and sizing
It is a multi-wrap, elastic strung on elastic with no clasp, and it approx. 15-18 cm (5.9-7.1 in) wrist. Because the core is elastic you wind it on rather than fasten it, so there is nothing to do up one-handed. If you need a different length, message us before ordering and we will tell you what is in stock.
Care
Wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid knocking it against hard edges, and avoid abrasive cleaners, which dull the polish quickly.
Shipping and returns
Orders are processed in 1-3 business days from our Shenzhen studio. Standard delivery to the US takes 10-20 business days and costs $8; shipping is free on orders over $70. Express delivery is $15. A tracking number is emailed once the parcel is handed to the carrier. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in their original packaging.

What is black obsidian?
Obsidian is volcanic glass, not a crystal. Untreated. Colour is the natural colour of the volcanic glass.
What wrist size does this bracelet fit?
It is strung on elastic with no clasp and measures about 15 to 18 cm (5.9 to 7.1 in) of inner circumference, which fits most adult wrists. If your wrist is outside that range, message us before ordering and we will tell you what we can do with the stock on hand.
Can I wear it in the shower or to swim?
Take it off first. Repeated soaking weakens the elastic core faster than wear does, and chlorine and salt leave a film on the bead surface that dulls it. A splash is fine; a daily shower is not.
What happens if the elastic breaks?
It can be restrung. The cord is a standard 0.8 mm elastic, and any jeweller can replace it in a few minutes. Message us and we will tell you the cord diameter and bead count so the repair matches.
